Very cloudy and grey here today, and cooler. It feels almost like Autumn has arrived. I picked a 2lb 4 oz of Moneymaker tomatoes yesterday and made Roasted Tomato Soup with them for lunch, which was served with basil oil and some toasted pine nuts. Delicious. The surplus basil oil I froze in ice cubes for use with winter soups.
The basic recipe is 1/2 oz of basil leaves is whizzed in the liquidizer with 4 tbsps of olive oil.
It was the perfect lunch for an autumnal day! - we even lit the woodburner in the kitchen before sitting down to eat.
But at least the veg from the polytunnel give us a taste of summer!
